What an obscure reference. The Wizard was just about my favorite childhood movie. I guess the reference even made it past the 6 dollar shirts staff, since this shirt isn't listed with the other movie and tv themed shirts. CALIFORNIA!!!!

Yup, DEFINITELY from The Wizard - I own it on DVD, so I know. Thank God someone besides me and my sister saw that movie!! My first memory of product placement - and I totally didn't realize it at the time; I just thought Nintendo was THAT awesome that someone would make a movie centered around its products.

Yes, it IS from The Wizard. Fer chrissakes the glove is even angled on the shirt the exact way Lucas was holding it when he said the line! These stupid youtube generation kids don't seem to realize that there WAS pop culture before the internet.

At the beginning of AVGN's Power Glove episode he holds it up and says "It's so bad". Word for word.
I don't know if anyone did that in The Wizard though.

Wrong. "It's so bad" is a line from the 1989 movie "The Wizard", starring Fred Savage. The movie was basically one giant commercial for Nintendo's Power Glove and (upcoming game at the time) Super Mario Bros 3.
Youtube that, and you'll see the reference long predates AVGN, he was actually referencing the cheesy movie line as a joke. Trust me, this is coming from someone who saw the movie the day it came out, who also still owns his power glove.
