Actually the first mammal was a dog. Monkey did not do it first. Two dogs and a few mice and rabbits came ong before the USA sent a monkey. The two dogs on that flight became stars in Russia, because Belka e Strelka were hailed as the first to go to space and return alive. Strelka had puppies and one was given to Jonn F Kennedys daughter by Nikta Khrushchev in 1961. I think thats pretty cool

for anyone who cant read Cyrillic it says Gagarin.and Dmitriy is right in Russia Ukraine etc. they tend to use ones last name for such official things as being the first human in space.And anyone who thinks Yuri Gagarin or having a shirt of him is gay is pretty stupid.
